Greenpeace researchers on board the Esperanza have documented two large methane leaks in the North Sea, which have emitted gas that is harmful to the climate in the past 30 years. Every year thousands of tons of methane escape from abandoned oil and gas wells on the bottom of the North Sea. Methane is 28 times more harmful to the climate than carbon dioxide. The oil and gas industry continues to drill new wells in the ocean floor instead of closing those leaks. You are fueling the climate crisis even further, while the decision-makers ignore the problem and do nothing. 🛢️🔥 THAT HAS TO STOP!
