Make up your mind now

I am 14 years old and have been going to high school since September.

I am now in the right position that I have to look at myself. I have to make sure that I don't eat too unhealthily, that I do my homework reliably, that I get up in the morning and don't miss the train. That I don't do nonsense with my friends for which I could endanger my parents or my later me, my future. All of these things used to be taken for granted.

My mother did everything for me. Has taken care of me so that I don't do any nonsense. If you did something more serious, for example, the neighbors were a little more lenient. But now back to the topic, and a little story:

When I went to the train station after 10 hours of school, as I do so often on Wednesday, the train had already left. The next one didn't come for an hour, so I still had time. I thought about it and later I decided to go to the nearby department store. The new “Fifa 1” had just come out, so I went to Saturn. I had already considered buying it at home and decided against it. But now I stood in front of it and began to sway. I had just spent my savings on a moped that I really wanted to own. So I knew that I had almost no money left, only what I had for the snack. "Without this money I couldn't buy anything more to eat next week." I thought ...

So what does this story have to do with sustainability? Let's start with the word "sustainability" itself. It dates back to the early 18th century forestry. The definition is that you can only use as much as you can get back.

Unfortunately I let myself be guided by my stupidity and bought the game. Of course, my mother scolded me for it and told me that I should never do that again. Still, I replaced what I had broken. I did the housework for her for a week, and she gave me money to eat for it. You see, once something is gone, it's gone too. Forever. And you will never get it back. Yes, it can be replaced, but it will never be the same again.

If you transfer that to a larger scale, things can turn out really bad. If you cut down too many trees, for example, there is no replacement, like my mother's money, for example. There is no going back. Of course, it's okay to cut trees. You also need firewood for your stove or when a tree is dangerous. However, this has to be kept in moderation. Our earth is able to repair itself to a certain point. Even if we often destroy them quite a bit.

If we go too far, however, it's over. Our one and only, OUR EARTH, will no longer be able to be helped. Because there is no second earth.

It is permissible to make mistakes. But when you are ready to see what you have actually done, then it is not too late. It is only too late when you decide to continue in the same way, with the awareness of hurting yourself and others.

We are now at the point where it is not too late.
We all stand in front of our earth, all of us. Every single person. It doesn't look like it at first glance. But there is so much more to it.

Our world hangs by a thread. Some want to help it, to strengthen it. Others stand in front of it with scissors and want to cut it. And most of them just watch as he always does, getting thinner and thinner, how it gets weaker, and how it slowly tears.

So look, exactly YOU who are reading or hearing this right now. Don't just watch our earth slowly approach the final day. Help delay the last day of our beloved earth. Until we can be sure that your children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren can also see the earth with their own eyes and say: WOW that is beautiful. I have to watch out for that!

Because that is SUSTAINABILITY !!!!!

Think you have the earth in your hand.
What you are doing?
