Living beings, food or clothing?

What is the first thing that comes to mind when you think of the word "animal"? The majority of our population thinks of or associates the term with a pet, a meal or a fur coat. Shouldn't we be ashamed and rethink our behavior so that there is only one correct answer for us, and that is to see the animal as a living being? Are we afraid of change because we automatically associate it with a negative aspect such as renunciation?

Animal rights activists demonstrate year after year for the same reason - the animal as a living being. No matter which animal you imagine, everyone breathes, everyone feels pain and everyone has the will to live. The evidence for this claim can be easily presented, for animals make a sound and fight back when pain is inflicted on them. Everyone who comes into contact with animals notices this by means of certain examples. Dogs show joy by wagging their tails, cats show their well-being by purring. Furthermore, the living being can grasp the emotions of humans and respond to them. These characteristics are particularly pronounced in dogs, which are also considered to be very capable of learning. This combination provides the basis, which is increased with training so that we have police and guide dogs.

Isn't it questionable that it would never be an option for us to serve our cat for lunch, but we hardly give a thought about a living animal when we eat our beloved schnitzel? Is this a question that can be answered with a certain hypocrisy and denial? We are used to seeing a huge assortment of groceries in the supermarket, where not one product is reminiscent of a living animal. Would there be more vegetarians if it weren't for that?

Especially the female population has fur clothing in their closets. Nowadays there is already a good alternative to this - fake fur, despite all of this, real fur remains a symbol of luxury. . Especially in winter, the range of different cases increases, as it is a warm, noble product. The desire for fur threatens many animals that are threatened with extinction. Even animals without fur are not protected from appearing as a fashion trend. A good example of this are real leather jackets, bags and shoes made from snake and crocodile skin. The animal is also used as a gift as an item of clothing and is usually accepted with great joy. The amazing thing nowadays is that there is already a good plastic alternative or prints for leather.

Finally, I would like to raise one more question which everyone should answer for themselves. Why are certain animals worth more than others in our society and who decides which animal species are allowed to live and which are not?
