The “Junkfluencer Report” from foodwatch was recently published. It contains numerous examples of how the food industry also uses popular influencers * in addition to classic advertising, "to market sugar-sweet beverages, fatty snacks and sweets specifically to children."
According to foodwatch, unhealthy food 'kills' around 180.000 people a year in Germany - “significantly more than tobacco consumption (around 140.000 deaths), alcohol consumption (around 50.000 deaths), lack of exercise (around 28.000 deaths) or, for example, traffic (around 3.000 deaths)."
In the report, foodwatch summarized the role advertising and influencer marketing play for the food industry, numerous data and statistics on nutrition and health, as well as the analysis of various social media channels.
