I've been asked many times why I run Option as a company and have not set up a club or NGO / NPO. The following: I see Option Medien e.U. - this is the official registered name, incidentally a one-person company - as a public interest-oriented publishing house with civil society mandate. Apart from the simpler founding and the bureaucracy as a company (absurd, I know), I am also concerned with the approach that I deeply believe: we can only positively change our society through the economy. And if ethical / sustainable companies compete with conventional companies, the former will probably win, at least ideally. So what if we bring almost the entire economy to act sustainably? In my opinion, it is not the pressure of the conscious consumer that is the big lever, but the growing number of sustainable companies that are increasingly putting pressure on politics. As the economy does so, only in this case, the "good" economy. So the real game changers are idealistic thinking entrepreneurs.
