How the “green hotel” is adapting to the corona crisis

Georg Maier from “Green Hotel zur Post” in Salzburg explains how to prepare for the corona crisis in the hotel:

“The first stage for the Salzburg hotel industry has been completed and for key employees there is now a lifting of the barring order in hotels. We at the green Hotel zur Post in Salzburg have been able to keep all employees on short-time work and have put all their strength and energy into the "restart" since the shutdown.

We have developed the following program for our guests: In order to keep the check-in as uncomplicated as possible, we offer a key delivery service for companies based in Salzburg. The Maier family delivers ecologically by bike or electric car. Travelers can pick up their room key at the reception or from the key safe contactlessly. We serve our BIO breakfast à la carte in the breakfast room with sufficient table space, we bring it to the room or we prepare it to take away, our BIO ToGo. The invoice will be sent by e-mail after departure or easily debited from a credit card of your choice.

We have expanded our high hygiene standards with a corona cleaning. This means in particular the constant disinfection of all door handles, remote controls, key safe, bathroom and surfaces on which contamination would be conceivable. Furthermore, a disinfectant and protective masks are available to our guests in the entrance area. We protect our guests and employees at the reception with a plexiglass partition. All rooms are equipped with disinfectants as standard, which can also be purchased in handbag format in the house.

We used these difficult weeks for us to reflect and get better again. We are positive and confident about the coming time and eagerly await summer 2020.

  • One-way regulation from the main entrance to the side entrance
  • Thin, green, sustainable gloves during CheckIn and CheckOut

2 Reservation and payment process:

  • Send invoices by email
  • Payments via KK or bank transfer
  • Fill in the guest sheet online using the new GastroDAt tool event. without signature
  • Cash payments only in exceptional cases

3 breakfast service:

  • No breakfast buffet
  • = Breakfast ToGo - the takeaway breakfast
  • = Breakfast basket tablet in the room
  • = Breakfast by reservation in the breakfast room
  •        = Everything is prepared using the new order form
  • Tables are disinfected after every guest
  • Set up tables at a distance

4 breakfast kitchen:

5 cleaning floor:

  • Daily disinfection of door handles, window handles, remote control TV

  • Additional dispenser with disinfectant for guests in the bathroom

6 Cleaning or disinfection - public spaces and breakfast room:

  • Repeatedly, daily disinfection of the door handles and surfaces

7 laundry room:

  • Wash hands more often

8 caretakers work:

  • Only work with a face mask

9 offices:

  • mouthguard

10 employees in general:

  • Uniform mouthguard
  • Increased hand washing
  • Thin, green, sustainable gloves
  • Targeted staff training in every department
  • Employees are divided into two teams so that a healthy team can take care of the guests if necessary.
