The place Lützerath will no longer exist. Yesterday morning the coal group RWE started demolishing houses.

At the weekend Armin Laschet was elected as the new CDU chairman. Immediately after the election, RWE destroyed a piece of beautiful home in Lützerath for the climate killer lignite. Thanks to Laschet, the group can appeal to the common good and expropriate people.

In addition to Lützerath, five other places are threatened with demolition for the Garzweiler opencast mine: Berverath, Kuckum, Oberwestrich, Unterwestrich and Keyenberg. It's so much more than a few houses. People are losing their home, some of whose families have been rooted here for centuries. Ancient culture is destroyed. Lignite is also the dirtiest form of power generation. If the Garzweiler II opencast mine is expanded, there is a high probability that Germany will fail to meet its climate targets. We don't even need the coal. We don't have to destroy any more villages to secure our energy supply. That's what scientists say: inside.

It is time for the CDU to say goodbye to coal: Instead of working for the profits of corporations, end your blockade of the energy transition. Ensures a consistent expansion of energy from sun, wind and water!
