From climate change and plastic pollution to mining and overfishing, the threats to our oceans are becoming more pressing every day. The vast areas outside the countries' national waters are most at risk because they have inadequate protection and are at risk of whales, turtles and dolphins.
The solution: Scientists have a new rescue plan for our oceans: creating a global network of marine protected areas that forbids destructive industries millions of square kilometers. To do this, governments must agree a strong global ocean treaty with the United Nations. We need as many people as possible to show these decision makers why protecting the ocean is important.
