government without a majority of voters

Corrupt is no longer quite the case. It's now of a different quality. The ÖVP paid for fake polls. The ÖVP has exceeded the legal framework for election advertising by millions. The ÖVP provides party friends with highly remunerated posts... The presumption of innocence applies - for the past few decades.

Now the conservative capitalists have their backs to the wall. You are spoiled for choice: prevent the committee of inquiry against you by holding new elections (1) or cling to power and hope that things will get better again (2). Has worked until now.

The third variant: a failed vaccination strategy/vaccination obligation. Because apart from illogical measures, lack of transparency and revealed individual economic interests, the narrative no longer applies, at least since Omicron. Even those media that have so far held back with criticism are already asking themselves: Is everything still going on here properly?

In any case, it's getting tight: Only sticky cold sweat and lust for power keeps the Turquoises on their seats, only eleven percent associate the ÖVP with decency, according to a recent survey by the Market Institute to the point. Waidhofen an der Ybbs underlines this with an impressive municipal council election result: -18,9 percent for the Turks. And even the whole of Lower Austria – deeply conservative and so far in the firm grip of the ÖVP – finally seems to have had enough and, according to the latest poll, also withdraws the state party’s clean bill of health from the absolute majority.

Here we come up against the limits of what is bearable in democracy: a government without significant support from the electorate decides on measures that restrict the freedom of many citizens. The Constitutional Court is also examining this again. And has now asked for clarification in writing, as Cornelia Mayrbäurl from the VfGH confirms: "This is a usual process - a preliminary procedure is initiated in one of the approximately 100 proceedings on Covid that are currently pending at the VfGH."

Nevertheless, according to the profile Sunday question, around 20 percent of Austrians would still vote for the scandalous ÖVP party. Just how opportunistic and misguided to the detriment of the nation can you be? Or do they all only watch ORF?
