Good morning on International Species Protection Day, which this year focuses on the role of forests and ecosystems in the preservation of livelihoods. How central this role is can also be seen in our project regions, where people are often faced with massive challenges due to the disappearance of forests. That is why it is so important to reforest and reforest areas of land together with the population in order to bring back fertile soil and natural sources and to secure the livelihood of the people.
By the way, here you can see Yohannes, who works as a foreman in a tree nursery in our Ginde Beret project region. The berry bush comes from Ficus vasta, a species of fig that is native to the region. The fruits are collected and seedlings are grown from the seeds for reforestation. And of course they taste very good too 🙂
