For a long service life: charge and store e-bike batteries correctly

E-bikes with lithium-ion batteries are certainly the better alternative to cars over short distances. However, the batteries are not ecologically harmless. It is all the more important to look after and care for your e-bike batteries so that they work for as long as possible.

Charge and store e-bike batteries correctly

  • The charging process should always be carried out in a dry place and at moderate temperatures (approx. 10-25 degrees Celsius).
  • No flammable materials are allowed to be around while charging.
  • It is important to only use the original charger, otherwise any warranty or guarantee claims may expire. It can also lead to irreparable damage to the battery, in the worst case even to a battery fire.
  • The optimal temperature for storage is between 10 and 25 degrees Celsius in the dry.
  • In summer the battery should not be exposed to direct sunlight for long periods of time and in winter it should not be left outside on the bike in freezing cold.
  • If the e-bike is not used in winter, store the battery at a charge level of approx. 60%.
  • Check the charge level sporadically and recharge it if necessary to avoid deep discharge.
