Five positive aspects of the corona crisis

The last few weeks have been full of emotions: irritation, fun, anger and fear. Society had a change of heart within a few weeks. The corona virus affects the whole world and its consequences are shocking for many - a loss of freedom, overload and death. Nevertheless, it is important for people not to lose sight of the positive aspects, no matter what situation they are in.

Here are five positive aspects of the corona crisis:

  1. Regionality: If regionalism in favor of the environment has not yet convinced people, at the latest many are now aware of the importance of vital products from the country. The crisis gives companies and people the chance to prefer to manufacture vital products such as medication or food regionally in the future. Many who have been fighting boredom at home for a few days suddenly find themselves in the kitchen and voluntarily bake cakes or bread - that would at least explain the empty shelves with flour. Some may even enjoy baking something in the future before buying it in the store.
  2. Time: In many media you can hear up and down that you now have more time for things that you would not otherwise do - this certainly includes baking cakes and mucking out voluntarily. In addition, of course, you have more time with the family you are stuck with, but which you might otherwise rarely experience in the constellation in normal everyday life. Time is saved by an appointment-free calendar or twenty minutes more in the morning, as most are probably rocking the sweatpants look with greasy hair at the moment. It is also a strange feeling, for example, that you cannot plan anything - nobody knows what the situation will be in summer, or even in two weeks' time - but that can also be a great food for thought for the calendar fetishists among us!
  3. Reset: Anyone who has been in quarantine at home for a while has probably already started one or the other mucking out campaign. The euphoria of the freshly cleaned and tidy apartment may be due to the lack of oxygen and "social distancing", but it shows the positive aspects of Minimalism. For example, minimalism also means asking yourself exactly what do I really need? This decision is now being made for many, as stores such as clothing stores are closed.
  4. consideration: People are put to the test, because they have to be considerate of older or weakened people and give up some freedoms. This also leads to mindfulness for others, for example those who otherwise have a job that is taken for granted: the nurse, the gentleman at the supermarket checkout or the postman. A simple sentence like "Thank you for your work!" Or "Stay healthy" is more common than usual. That too Video from Italy circulated around the world and is a perfect example of solidarity and community.# Neighborhood challenge" also shows how neighbors take care of each other and shop for each other.
  5. Environment: On the one hand, many people now enjoy and appreciate nature through their precious walk; on the other hand, the environment has the chance to regenerate and relax. Although there are fewer vehicles, ferries and planes, these deductions have many positive aspects. In Venice the water becomes clearer and even small, shimmering fish swim. NASA's satellite images also circulate around the world and show that the air in China seems cleaner.

Hopefully more positive news will be reported again in the next few weeks: For example, positive results from Studies for active substances against Covid-19 at the end of April, fewer new cases, high percentages of healthy people (especially in Italy) and a newfound freedom for the citizens of the countries.

    • If I just deciphered your comment correctly, the virus has of course a lot to do with fear, that's for sure. In addition to the negative reports, I thought it would be helpful if the many people who are currently sitting at home notice some positive changes that have nothing to do with fear (environment, respect, etc.)
