Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, a third generation Bronxite, is the seated Congresswoman for the 14th borough of New York and the youngest woman in history to serve in the United States Congress. She previously worked as an organizer and was the director of education for the National Hispanic Institute. She has transferred her commitment to social, racial, economic and ecological justice to a political office. In addition to her work focusing on income inequality, reducing corporate interests in our government, immigrant rights and civil protection for marginalized communities across the country, Alexandria is an advocate for environmental justice and climate policy and is co-author of House Resolution 109 (“ Recognizing the Federal Government's Duty to Create a Green New Deal ”) along with Senator Ed Markey in 2019.
