For the past 18 years, John Hocevar has led Greenpeace USA's fight to keep our oceans healthy for future generations. John and his team are working to eliminate single-use plastic, create a global network of marine protected areas, and stop deep-sea mining before it begins. They also work to end human rights violations and environmental degradation in industrial fishing. John is a marine biologist and submarine pilot. His work in Antarctic waters this year will result in 7 new areas being closed to fishing. Before joining Greenpeace, John was the founder and executive director of Students for a Free Tibet.
