FAIRTRADE mourns killed producers

We have received tragic news: 24 members of the FAIRTRADE coffee cooperative Limu Inara Farmers in Central Ethiopia fell victim to the conflict taking place there. They were killed during armed fighting between the Ethiopian army and troops of the local Oromo rebels. Our condolences go out to the relatives of the farmers who were killed.

The regional FAIRTRADE producer network Fairtrade Africa maintains contact with the cooperative. "We are very sad and will take appropriate measures to support the refugees and the families of those killed," says Argent Chuula, Executive Director of Fairtrade Africa.
