Heart and soul - Editorial by Helmut Melzer

Helmut Melzer

At a younger age, I found the present to be less exciting. I would have liked to experience the adventures of bygone eras. Or, in the distant future, would the journey into the unknown of the universe begin blindly? Today, with meanwhile slightly graying beard hair, I realize: We live in the most significant and thus most exciting epoch of humanity. It will be our generation that will shape the next centuries. Not our children or grandchildren, we are the future.

In this context, the question nagged me for a long time what would really make sense from a journalistic point of view. My answer, my lifeblood, hold you in your hands. Option is not just dedicated to alternatives in all areas of life. Option has committed itself not only to credible, uninfluenced information. Option not only unites classic topics such as politics and economics with social, environmental and animal welfare, innovation and sustainability in the broadest sense. Option wants to be more. Option wants to accompany you into a new age - critical, optimistic, at the bottom of reality.

It is no coincidence that in its first edition Option is dedicated to a new, delicately emerging world view. The real interests of humans and the planet are increasingly coming to the fore. But these are no longer individual "trends". Rather, a large, holistic movement is emerging that is in the process of steering the helm into a positive future. In the future, you will be informed in detail about their progress.

Like sustainability, the development of a new medium is also a process. So do not hesitate to send us your opinion and wishes. And let me give you another hint: Option is not a big publisher. Option is supported by the commitment of individuals and my modest private funding. So if you like this young magazine and you share our idealism, send a message - and please support us with a subscription or an ad.

Many thanks and much joy on the way to the new age.
