Coal Alaaf! Today is Carnival on the Rhine, whether Corona or not. And because the climate crisis continues, because the new CDU boss and NRW Prime Minister Armin Laschet is still sticking to his coal plans, there is a very special carnival car this year. He stands a little lonely at Cologne Cathedral.
On the wagon of the well-known Rhenish wagon builder Jacques Tilly, Laschet can be seen with a carnival hat as the driver of a bucket wheel excavator that is tearing down a church. On the carnival hat it says "Despite Corona - Laschet remains Jeck like eh and Jeh", on the car "CDU: Homeland destroyed, coal Alaaf!"
The climate protection activists take up the tradition of the Rhenish Carnival of satirically denouncing political grievances. They are calling on Armin Laschet to stop the climate-damaging expansion of the Garzweiler II open-cast lignite mine and to end the demolition of other villages and churches.
