Corona crisis also dampens boys' expectations for the future

The Covid 19 crisis will cost the state a lot; as early as April 2020, the additional expenditure and reduced tax revenues were estimated at around 25 billion euros. There was still no talk of a second lockdown. "The huge expenses will have to be processed in the future and handled by the next generation," predicts Werner Beutelmeyer from the insurance company Allianz der Jugend, which is not very positive.

In general, the future is not seen too brightly, Allianz shows Pension barometer 2020 as a future indicator: overall there is only little trust in the state pension, especially among the younger generation. Only half of Austrians assume that they will even be state-run Retirement pension to obtain. In 2014 it was 63,9 percent. Among boys between 18 and 34 years of age, only 29 percent currently believe in a state pension. In addition, every or every third party assumes that the protection is poor.

In addition to young people, it is primarily women who are more pessimistic about the future. However, Mr and Mrs Austrians have not lost faith in the financial future, as 48 percent expect their standard of living to have improved in five years, despite the crisis.

The youth trend monitor from DocLX and Marketagent takes a similar line. However: 55,3 percent of those surveyed between the ages of 14 and 24 are currently having little or no concern with regard to their professional future. Only eleven percent have deep worry lines written on their faces. Women and the 20 to 24 year olds who are just starting out in their careers are a little more concerned.

“The Corona generation is handling the crisis very pragmatically and does not yet seem very concerned about their future. But it is a fact that this generation will suffer particularly badly from the consequences of the pandemic. Many do not seem to be aware of these effects, ”says Alexander Knechtsberger (DocLX) with conviction. 87,5 percent are convinced that Covid-19 makes the situation particularly difficult for young professionals.
