Book tip: "The café on the edge of the world"

"Why are you here? Are you afraid of death? Do you live a full life? "

These are the questions that John, the protagonist of John Strelecky's bestseller “The Café on the Edge of the World”, is confronted with after a long and tiring week in a secluded café. John was actually on his way to a well deserved vacation. However, after a nerve-wracking traffic jam and with little fuel, he gets lost and stranded in the café where he lingers all night. With the help of conversations with the waitress Casey and the chef Mike, John gradually answers the three questions and gains knowledge - among other things about his purpose of existence, or the so-called "ZdE".

The book deals with the classic questions about the meaning of life. However, it is not quite as hackneyed as it sounds, because the reader is inspired by food for thought and observations. For example, topics of fear are discussed, such as fear of an abyss that is not there. Many people are certainly aware of the inhibitions that one feels when something new or unknown is imminent and do not dare to face their fear. Leaving the comfort zone is still an important part of life.

Using the example of the protagonist, widespread cycles in which there are many people are also examined and examined. A classic example: You work full-time in a job that takes a lot of time and nerves. After an exhausting week of work, you are exhausted and no longer have the leisure to deal with things that are important to you or that you enjoy: reading, making music, drawing, spending time with friends or family. Instead, you use your hard-earned money to buy things such as a massage chair, clothes or an expensive vacation to help you recover from the stress in the short term. The money you spent on it has to go back in - you are back at the beginning of the spiral. What are you doing now?

The bestseller is certainly a matter of taste. But if you get a little involved in the simple action, you will get one thing in addition to advice and food for thought: Courage and desire for something new.
