Bloody shops with fine wood

Westwood is said to have cut down protected rosewood worth CHF 170 million in Senegal and financed the rebel army MFDC with part of the profit. At the time, the company belonged to Freiburg businessman Nicolae Bogdan Buzaianu and Gambia's dictator Yahya Jammeh. The Geneva-based human rights organization Trial International has therefore filed criminal charges against Mr. Buzaianu with the Federal Prosecutor's Office. We urge the federal prosecutor to investigate these highly explosive allegations immediately and to initiate criminal proceedings.
