If NRW Prime Minister Armin Laschet has his way, RWE may relocate over 1.500 people for the Garzweiler opencast mine. The Rhenish lignite district is the largest source of CO2 in Europe. If coal continues to be dredged here, Germany will not be able to meet the Paris climate targets. In the next few days, the coal group RWE wants to destroy houses in the town of Lützerath.
