Almost all large companies in Austria are missing climate targets

The management consultancy Boston Consulting Group (BCG) has analyzed the climate protection measures and plans of the 100 largest companies in Austria. The result: only 13 of the 100 companies examined were on the Paris course, as reported by the Standard. "Another 19 companies that have formulated a climate protection target want to reduce their emissions, but not completely neutralize them."

The authors of the study, Roland Haslehner and Sabine Stock, describe the fact that “more than half, specifically 52 percent, have still not defined a specific, comprehensive climate protection target.” The study allows for compensation through the support of climate-friendly projects in other countries left out. Because: Every company is responsible for its share of climate protection, "without excuses, without evasive maneuvers".

For the analysis, all companies represented in the leading index of the Vienna Stock Exchange (ATX) plus the unlisted companies with the highest turnover in the country were used.
