After 14 years: Klaus Milke hands over Germanwatch chairmanship to Silvie Kreibiehl

At the development and environmental organization  German Watch Today has started a new phase: After 14 years at the head of the organization has Klaus Milke handed over the chairmanship to Silvie Kreibiehl.

The 43-year-old climate and financial expert, since 2015 on the board - most recently as Vice President Milkes - was elected at today's general meeting in Berlin by a large majority and without a dissenting vote in office. Milke, 1991 in the founding board and ever since active on the board, had not run again. He was elected by the majority by a large majority and without dissenting honorary chairman and Germanwatch will remain closely connected.

Silvie Kreibiehl is a recognized expert in the field of sustainable finance and global justice. Until her child was born at the end of last year, she headed the UNEP Collaborating Center for Climate & Sustainable Energy Finance at the Frankfurt School for Finance and Management. She is currently working for the university on parental leave as the coordinating lead author of the sixth assessment report of the IPCC in working group 3, Investment and Finance. Before that, she worked for Deutsche Bank for over 17 years, initially in medium-sized business and corporate finance and most recently in sustainability. She spent a half-year sabbatical in Fort Portal, Uganda, and, like Klaus Milke, learned at an early age to lead and moderate the dialogue between various interest groups.

In the ten-member honorary board were also dr. Karl-Eugen Huthmacher and Fiona Marker newly elected. Germanwatch relies on a mixture of youthful sense of responsibility and many years of political experience in expanding the Executive Board.
