Urban e-bikes are trendy: the best models

Alternative modes of transport such as bicycles, e-scooters, boards and other devices are booming and are in demand as sustainable means of transport. “A trend that the majority of Austrians think is good. Every second person sees this as a positive development. Above all, the aspect of environmental protection is important to more than every fifth Austrian, but also the fact that the metropolitan areas will become more liveable. Almost as many, namely 21 percent, use their bicycles in the city and are in favor of a further expansion of this form of mobility. 5 percent of the supporters use e-scooters, ”shows a representative survey by Innofact AG for AutoScout24 among 500 Austrians.

However, the respondents also see a need for action by politicians: “At least 30 percent say that they see an increase in these forms of mobility in urban areas as positive, but the transport concepts should be adapted to this trend. Almost every third person perceives the hip scooters and eager cyclists as a danger for everyone involved with the existing traffic concept. "

Urban e-bikes put to the test

The ÖAMTC has eight regardless of these results Urban e-bikes tested. ÖAMTC technician Dominik Darnhofer sums up: "Four of the eight tested e-bikes scored 'good', three achieved a 'satisfactory' rating and one was rated 'sufficient'." In terms of price, the urban e-bikes range between 1.000 and 3.000 euros. "All four urban e-bikes rated 'good' (Ampler Curt, Mustache Friday 28.1, Coboc One Brooklyn and Cowboy 2) can be bought without hesitation," the ÖAMTC concluded.

There is no purchase recommendation for the Geero Original-Classic (vinyl). "Poor brakes, long motor overrun, no shutdown of the drive when braking - none of this seems mature enough and can even become a safety risk," explains Darnhofer.
