Raiffeisen and Oberbank save shareholders instead of people in the Corona crisis!
The world is heading for the worst economic crisis in decades. The most important task of the banks is now to continue to provide the economy and society with money and to defer loans to people and businesses. But Raiffeisen and the Oberbank plan to distribute profits to shareholders even before the coming crisis. That must have an end!
In the looming crisis, it could also fall on our head that “systemically important” banks were not divided up after the financial crisis of '08. They are too big to be wound up and threaten entire economies. Therefore, the general public might have to step in again.
