Pigs are sensitive individualists with a social spirit

Many people know that pigs are highly intelligent. The animals have a strong long-term memory and learn quickly. They listen to their names like a trained dog, but are considered to be even smarter than dogs and even some species of primates.

Here are a few more pork facts that you may not have heard of:

  • Cuddly toy

Pigs are very social animals with a fixed hierarchy. In winter they like to sleep snuggled together.

  • Individualists

No pig grunts like another. Every pig develops its own personality depending on the environment.

  • Sensitive senses

The proboscis of pigs has as many tactile cells as both human hands together. Pigs also hear very well. Pigs perceive high notes in particular much better than humans.
