Bake mandazi


Today we have one culinary tip for you guys: mandazi do it Yourself! Better said, bake, because the donut-like pastries Rwanda is fried in oil.

It's a wonderful change from the classic donut and that traditional recipe can of course be adapted to personal taste at will.

Ingredients for mandazi:

  • 2 cups of flour
  • 1 packet of baking powder
  • 2-3 tbsp sugar
  • 1 egg
  • ½ cup of milk
  • Frying oil

Preparation:

Mix the ingredients of flour, baking powder and sugar in a bowl, make a well in the middle and add the egg. Gradually add the milk and knead well. Cover the dough with a damp cloth and let it rest for 15 minutes. Then roll out the dough on a floured surface and cut into small square pieces. Heat the oil in a saucepan and fry the Mandazi rolls in it until golden brown. Let them cool down and then they're done!
