8 reasons why we support #reforestation: 🌱🌳🌴🌲
1. Using # indigenous and slowly growing trees, degraded and thus useless areas are sustainably renatured.
2. # Biodiversity is promoted by using different and locally important tree species for afforestation.
3. With afforestation, further #species losses can be avoided and #protected and # endangered animal and plant species can be preserved.
4. The # genetic diversity that is present in many # primary forests is protected by replanting.
5. Forests are important # CO2 sinks. That is why afforestation reduces the CO2 content in the atmosphere.
6. The forest is an important source of sustainable #resources (eg wood and medicine) for people and the environment. The afforestation preserves # habitats for animals, humans and plants.
7. Reforestation projects like this one of the BMF create alternative #works for the local population.
