4 soccer fields PV system on water tank

The largest citizen's solar power plant in Vienna has now been put into operation on the Unterlaa water tank of the MA31. A solar system with 28.000 modules and almost two megawatts of power was built on a total area of 6.500 square meters or the equivalent of four soccer fields.

Around two million kilowatt hours of solar power will be generated in Unterlaa in the future. These cover 40 percent of the energy requirements of the Unterlaa water tank plus the annual electricity consumption of around 600 households. According to the operator, Vienna's largest photovoltaic system currently saves a total of 706 tons of CO2 per year. The integration model is based on vouchers.
